Second Honeymoon

Second Honeymoon

The journey begins in the cab to the airport. We are leaving the mediocre summer of Germany for the tropical paradise of Bali. Our excitement is enhanced by the fact, that this is our first journey with our son Max. Will it be a smooth flight for us? How does he cope with the moist heat in Indonesia? So far he likes the jaunty songs of the seventies the cap driver is enjoyoing. 🎵👶

Our anxiety about the flight is misplaced. Max is a natural born traveler. He keeps his sleep and feeding schedules and the pressure on the ear does not seem to bother him. 24 hours from door to door and we finally arrive in paradise. Like last time we wanted to start near the airport of Denpasar. So we opted for the same resort.

Although located in the buzzing neighborhood of Seminyak, the indigo hotel is calm and relaxing. Thus our first days consists of very good food, pool times and leisure strolls along the beach and through the bustling city. And yes, we literally took the stroller with us and navigated it over broken pedestals and streets clogged with scooters. Like everything concerning traffic in Bali, it takes a lot of patience 😅.

There were only small noticeable changes since our last visit two years ago. Since these corona times the city is even more lively. One of our favorite restaurants, a small indian shop with four tables and only one menu per day, is now a big place with with a lot of delicious plates and delivery service. Although the population growth seems to slow down, there are now around 4.4 million people living in Bali transforming the south of the island to one big extended city.
